Free Economic Zone “Minsk” (FEZ “Minsk”) was created in March, 2, 1998, for 30 years according to the Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus ¹ 93 “On creation of free economic zones “Minsk” and “Gomel-Raton”.
Creation of free economic zone “Minsk” encouraged formation of favorable investment and business climate in the region.
The main purposes and aims of FEZ “Minsk” creation are:
- attraction of foreign and national investments;
- creation of export-oriented and import-substituting productions, implementation of new technologies;
- economic and social development of FEZ territory, creation of new working places.
FEZ “Minsk” territory (total area 1604,92 hectares) includes production areas of Minsk city: “11th kilometer”, “Shabany”, “Zavod Radian”, “Obchak”, “Horizont” and plots of land for implementation of big projects: “Elnitsa”, “Prilesie” and technical territory of the “National Airport Minsk”.
With the purpose of attraction of national and foreign investments for creation and development of modern productions the Legislation on FEZ establishes special legal mode which presupposes preferential conditions for investment and business activity.
The Edict of the President of the Republic of Belarus of 09.06.2005 ¹262 “On Certain Issues of Free Economic Zones in the Territory of the Republic of Belarus” unified conditions of activity, tax and customs benefits for all FEZ of the Republic of Belarus.
Administration of FEZ “Minsk” works in cooperation with Minsk City Executive Committee, Minsk Oblast Executive Committee, Ministry of Economy and other government bodies. Territorial development of free economic zone is one of the most important tasks of FEZ “Minsk” Administration.
FEZ Administration pays great attention to support of FEZ “Minsk” enterprises with necessary engineering and transport communications. For new production objects of residents FEZ Administration performs engineering preparation of sites, road building, other territory improvement.
