Free economic zones (FEZ) are created to stimulate production based on new and advanced technologies, increasing the number of jobs and the volume of exports.
In the Belarusian Free Economic Zone, 409 organizations * are registered, employing more than 121,000 people (3.5% of the average number of employees in the republic).
Six FEZs operate in Belarus:
FEZ "Brest" (1996) - 75 residents, 21 260 employees **,
FEZ Gomel-Raton (1998) - 75 residents, 26 717 employees,
FEZ "Minsk" (1998) - 117 residents, 22,404 employees,
FEZ "Vitebsk" (1999) - 38 residents, 10 662 employees,
FEZ "Mogilev" (2002) - 36 residents, 23 316 employees,
FEZ "Grodnoinvest" (2002) - 68 residents, 17 019 employees.
The main activities of the residents of FEZ: manufacturing industry, trade, activities in real estate transactions, transport activities, professional, scientific and technical activities.
The share of residents of FEZ in the main macroeconomic indicators of Belarus in January-March 2018: 12.3% of industrial production, 8% of investments in fixed assets, 14.9% of exports.
